SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio frequency identification (RFID) networks. A system and a method are disclosed, which enable the use of rule-based technology with a RFID network. An interface can receive RFID data in real time from a process comprising at least one set of devices in a RFID network, wherein a rules engine (RE) component can apply, as rules, a declared events policy associated with the RFID network. The RE allows dynamic updates of business logic associated with applications, in real time without restarting and/or stopping the applications. The system and/or method further include a glossary component which provides terms which define at least one of a rule, a rule condition and an action, based at least in part on industry-specific terminology.

EFFECT: efficient use of rules in a RFID network.
