FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to adjustment of floatability of surface ships and smaller submarines. Proposed method consists in filling ship ballast tanks to reduce floatability or draining said tanks to up floatability. Said ballast tanks are filled by seawater for 0.8-0.9 of their volume to compress air contained therein to compression ratio of 5…10 and pressure of 1.0…2.5 MPa, thus, decreasing ship floatability to residual negative floatability of 0.001 of ship submerged displacement to accumulate power and reduce ship floatability. In reverse mode, water pumps and air of said tanks compressed to 1.0…2.5 MPa are used to completely or partially drain said tanks, thus, increasing ship floatability.
EFFECT: simplified floatability adjustment, reduced power consumed by pump drive.
