FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of acquiring spatial frequency spectra for specific locations in a 3D sample using modifications of current magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) techniques for localised nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The innovation is adding the use of a read out gradient to current NMR spectroscopy pulse sequences and recording the resultant echo, which enables to generate spectra from a selected region or generate an image of the results over a region of the sample. These methods can be applied in analysing the structure of trabecular bone as well as for analysing or diagnosing disease in cases where there is a difference in the spatial frequency power spectrum due to physiologic or disease processes. Various versions are disclosed.
EFFECT: assessment of uniform distribution of spatial frequencies inside a sample without need to obtain all data needed for imaging.
