WIRE-ADDITIVE, PROCEDURE FOR ITS FABRICATION AND IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C21C7/00 

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used at fabrication of reagent in form of wire containing calcium, aluminium and active components for processing metallurgical melts. Wire possesses complex of properties facilitating its usage as an agent for refining or alloying, for chemical heating or modifying non-metallic inclusions, for modifying structure of hard alloys or prevention of pouring nozzle overgrowing at teeming metallurgical melts. Base in wire-additive is made of cast amorphous alloy containing calcium and aluminium components chosen from group Si, Mg, Sr, Ba, Be, B, V, Y, La, Ce, Li, Na, K, Pb, Ti, Zr, Mn, Cr, Cu, Fe, Sn, Nb, Ni, Ge, V, REM and N and unavoidable impurities, with pressure of vapour of evaporation at temperature of metallurgical melt treatment as high, as 102 kPa, ratio of Ca/Al equal to 0.025÷25 and of following contents wt %: Ca+Al=61.6÷99.5, active components and unavoidable impurities 0.5÷38.4.

EFFECT: reduced expenditures for fabrication of wire due to utilisation of feed stock of lower grade; reduced expenditures for process stages at desulphuration of iron owing to exclusion of installation for iron desulphurisation from process train; expanded range of wire application due to various casings and compositions of base alloy; complete avoidance of steel pouring nozzle overgrowing.
