SUBSTANCE: registration system comprises an event receiver and a storage manager. The receiver receives registration data, processes said data and outputs a data "portion". The manager receives data portions and stores them such that they can be requested. The receiver includes buffers which store events and a metadata structure which stores metadata on buffer contents. The metadata contain a unique identifier associated with the receiver, the number of events in the buffers and, for each "field of interest", a minimum value and a maximum value, which reflect the range of values of that field on all events in the buffers. The portion includes a metadata structure and a compressed version of the buffer contents. The metadata structure serves as a search index when requesting data on an event. The registration system can be used together with an information/event security control system.

EFFECT: high efficiency of storing information and accessing said information.
