FIELD: control systems.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, a system and a machine-readable data medium for controlling a software container. Method includes obtaining a task definition, wherein the task definition indicates at least: a location on which the software image is located; and information used to determine the amount of resources allocated to a software container for a software image, wherein the software container is an instance of user space that is executed in isolation from other program containers executed on the same instance of the virtual machine; determining a virtual machine instance on which the software container is launched; and causing the image of the software to be obtained from the location indicated by the task definition, and running in the software container on the virtual machine instance.
