FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Sodium dithionate is obtained via oxidation of sodium bisulphite in equimolar sodium chloride solution. The process is carried out in a vertical-type bead mill with weight ratio of the initial load to glass beads equal to 1:2.5 in the presence of an initiator - magnetite, fed as an oxidisable reagent in fractional mode. The initial load consists of distilled water and the oxidisable compound in form of a solution with concentration of 2.0-2.5 mol/l in amount of 0.125-0.250 mol/(kg of the initial load) and magnetite in amount of 0.022-0.066 mol/(kg of the initial load). The second and subsequent addition of sodium bisulphite is carried out at the moment the previously added reagent is almost finished. Magnetite is added during third, fourth or fifth addition of the oxidisable compound from the previous addition of the initiator. The process is carried out at room temperature and bubbling air without removing the reaction mixture to compensate for change in volume. Further, the reaction mixture is separated from the glass beads and filtered. The residue is washed with water and removed from the filter.
EFFECT: high output of sodium dithionate.
