FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in producing thin-wall large-diameter shells. Periodic profile is formed by deforming the billet revolving on rotary mandrel by several rolls. Note here that billet with bottom is used arranged on mandrel with clearance making 0.06-0.08 of billet wall thickness to thrust against its bottom. Said periodic profile is made in two or several passes. Deforming in first pass is made with variable degree of deformation on biller end section and, in next passes, on billet start and main sections. Rolls have taper lead-in section, front working and rear conjugated surfaces, and cylindrical collar of its top. Rolls move radially to and from said mandrel, feed magnitude being varied. Mandrel with billet is fed axially opposite the draft direction.
