FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method of casting billets of cross section not exceeding 700 cm2 in swinging crystalliser comprises draw speed oscillator arranged between draw rolls and their drives that comprises elastic torsion couplings. Said mechanism allows decelerating billet draw with crystalliser moving up and accelerating it with crystalliser moving down. Mechanism free travel in forward and back rotation directions results from mechanism displacement from neutral position in billet rotation forward or back direction through 2-30 mm. Said mechanism allows increasing the force counteracting elastic torsion coupling to be moved back into neutral position in response to shift therefrom.
EFFECT: stable reduction of friction between crystalliser and billet.
