FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: systems and methods enable to determine and use step change templates to transmit broadband pilot signals in a wireless communication network. In order to transmit broadband pilot signal data, part of the bandwidth is selected and templates are used to realise frequency step changes in the given periods of time. Furthermore, devices requiring additional scheduling, for example high activity devices, are sent broadband pilot signal data and periodicity is more frequently configured for data transmission. Step change templates realise step change on cyclic template shifts in order to provide optimum spacing for transmitting broadband pilot signals.
