FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of heat cleaning graphite or graphite-based articles and can be used in atomic power engineering, synthesis of artificial diamonds, semiconductor engineering, chemical industry and production of electrochemical current sources. A mixture of graphite powder and carbon filling material is heated in a furnace at 2500-3000°C. The carbon filling material contains the following in wt %: thermally expanded graphite 2-15, technical carbon - the rest. The thermally expanded graphite used is crushed wastes from production of flexible graphite foil. The heat cleaned graphite is extracted from the cooled furnace.

EFFECT: invention ensures high output of highly pure graphite without using expensive reagents.
