FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method for synthesis of linear alpha-olefins through oligomerisation of ethylene involves the following steps: (i) oligomerisation of ethylene in a reactor in the presence of a solvent and a catalyst; (ii) transferring the liquid organic stream from the reactor containing a solvent, a catalyst, dissolved ethylene and linear alpha olefins into a catalyst deactivation section; (iii) deactivation of the catalyst by washing the output stream with an aqueous-alkaline phase to form an aqueous phase containing the deactivated catalyst and a water-saturated organic phase; (iv) separation of the aqueous and organic phases from step (iii); (v) feeding the water-saturated organic phase into a distillation column; (vi) distillation of the water-saturated organic phase in order to direct water into the top part of the distillation column and condensation of water together with light linear alpha-olefins; and (vii) separation of the distilled organic and aqueous phases in a phase separator.

EFFECT: low expenses and low amount of production wastes.
