FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in electrolytic hydrogenation of sample with its successive destruction. Sample hydrogenation facilitates accumulation of diffusion-active hydrogen along boundaries of actual austenite grains and hydrogen embrittlement of metal which causes its destruction along boundaries of these grains at successive loading. Further quantitative evaluation of dimension of actual austenite grain of alloyed steel is made on base of analysis of brittle inter-crystalline fracture.
EFFECT: raised reliability of detection of austenite grains.
