FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry. Water vapour-saturated sulphur dioxide is successively fed into first, second and third cooling stages in separators. Dry sulphur dioxide is fed from the third cooling step of the top part of the separator into a heat exchanger and heated to temperature 55-60°C and then transformed into liquid state by compressing to pressure 0.8-0.9 MPa and cooling to temperature 40-50°C. Sulphur dioxide is fed into the final separator for subsequent separation from uncondensed gases. Liquid sulphur dioxide is taken for storage in special average-pressure containers, from which they are collected by a high pressure pump and taken for pumping into a formation through an injection pump or sent to other users under pressure. Acidic water from the bottom part of the separators is fed into a sulphur dioxide stripping unit. The stripped sulphur dioxide is returned into the stream of wet sulphur dioxide, and the stripped water is used as feed water for exhaust-heat boilers, directed for household needs or pumped into a formation.
