FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: there is performed vacuum-plasma application of multi-layer coating. There is initially applied a lower layer of nitride or carbonitride of titanium and molybdenum compound at their ratio wt %: titanium 95.75-97.0, molybdenum 3.0-4.25. Further, there is applied an intermediate layer of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, molybdenum and zirconium compound at their ratio, wt %: titanium 81.0-86.0, molybdenum 2.0-3.0, zirconium 12.0-16.0 and upper one - of nitride or carbonitride of compound of titanium, molybdenum and zirconium at their ratio wt %: titanium 78.5-84.0, molybdenum 4.0-5.5, zirconium 12.0-16.0. Coating is applied in layers with three cathodes positioned horizontally in one plane. The first and second cathode are complex of titanium and molybdenum and they are arranged opposite to each other, while the third one is complex of titanium and zirconium and it is located between them. Also, the lower layer is applied with the first and the second cathode, the intermediate layer is applied with the first and the third cathode, and the upper layer - with the second and the third cathodes.
EFFECT: raised functionality of cutting tool.
