FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: converter has an optical radiation source, a generator of two spatially spaced modes with the necessary polarisation and an optical mode summation system. The generator of two spatially spaced modes with the necessary polarisation is based on digital holograms which form mode beams at angles to the optical system which have the same modulus but opposite sign. The optical mode summation system is in form of a diffraction grating having diffraction angle equal to angles of incidence of modes on the diffraction grating.

EFFECT: reduced size, weight and number of matched parameters, easy adjustment and reduced loss of optical energy.
