FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: two optical and optoconverters with identical image receivers arranged so that front main planes of their optical systems are aligned. Two images of test object arranged at distance measured from aligned front main planes are obtained. The same or another test object, differing from first one by distance thereto, is displaced along optical axes of optical systems. Again, two images of test object are obtained. Obtained pairs of images are used to define test object image sizes to calculate focal distances by formulas specified in claims.
EFFECT: higher validity and accuracy.
