FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: control is conducted by control electronics that adjust torque generated by electric power generator, for example, that of windmill. In normal operation, torque is adjusted to optimum operating performances and/or maximum power output. In case wind exceeds tolerances, control circuit regulates torque to reduced aerodynamic characteristics to that required power output is maintained. In conditions of switching-on, in case, for example, generator fails at gale-force wind, windmill is controlled by increasing torque by means of separate controller, electric power generator, or short-circuiting windings to decrease turbine blades rpm.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability, lower noise and costs.
