FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves dissolving palladium metal in concentrated nitric acid and evaporating the obtained solution. Before crystallisation of palladium (II) nitrate at solution temperature (20-80)°C, an anhydride of propionic acid is proportionally added to the palladium nitrate solution after evaporation in amount of (1.5-3.0) l anhydride of propionic acid per 1 kg of the initial palladium metal for (10-30) minutes. The formed solution is heated to (90-110)°C for (30-60) minutes and the obtained solution or suspension is cooled to temperature not higher than 20°C, with duration of crystallisation of the product not less than 6 hours.
EFFECT: invention provides a stable method of producing palladium propionate in crystalline mono-phase state [Pd3(C2H5COO)6] and simplifies the production method.
