FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of metals from corrosion using inhibitors in mineralised aqueous media containing dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide, and specifically to protection from local (pitting) corrosion of pipe materials, industrial metal structures, equipment, transportation infrastructure made from low-alloy and low-carbon steel using inhibitors which are phosphorus-containing compounds. The corrosion inhibitor based on phosphorus organic compounds is N-heterocyclic alkylphosphonic acid of formula HtC(R₁R₂)P(O)(OH)₂, where Ht is a heterocyclic fragment with a nitrogen atom in the ring - pyrrolidine or morpholine; R₁ and R₂ are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals CH₃ or CH₃ and C₂H₅.

EFFECT: novel corrosion inhibitor which is efficient for protecting carbon and low-alloy steel from corrosion, and particularly from local corrosion, and method for synthesis of such an inhibitor from readily available material.
