METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF POSTOPERATIVE COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS SUFFERING DEGENERATE-DYSTROPHIC JOINT DISEASE OF LOWER EXTREMITIES Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B5/488

Abstract RU 2432112 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthopaedics, neurosurgery and neurology. The patients underwent hip replacement are examined for electric activity of fibular and tibial nerves of lower extremities. An observed A-wave enables to state a local sciatic nerve disease. If distal and proximal segments of the examined nerves - an M-response, latent time (LT), nerve conduction velocity (NCVeff), a muscular response in antidromic nerve stimulation (an F-wave) are close to the age-norm values, the absence of the postoperative neurological complications is predicted in the patients. If there are recorded decreased values of the distal segments of the fibular and tibial nerves of the involved and healthy extremities by more than 50 % in the presence of nerve conduction blocks at a level of the proximal segments more than 35 %, development of the postoperative neurological complications is predicted, and a conservative therapeutic course is recommended to improve compensatory mechanisms of a neuromuscular apparatus of the lower extremities.

EFFECT: method extends the range of products for prediction of the postoperative complications in the patients underwent hip replacement.
