METHOD FOR ASSESSMENT OF FOETUS RESISTANCE TO HYPOXIA BY MY GAUSNEKHT Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B8/06 A61B8/08

Abstract RU 2432118 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to obstetrics and gynaecology, and aims at assessment of foetus resistance to hypoxia. Preliminary, a woman is laid on her back. A point on her stomach surface is found to put an ultrasonic transducer thereto to form a foetus's chest image in a sagittal section and dopplerography of foetus's thoracic aorta presented simultaneously on the screen. The transducer is fixed in this position, and a course of dopplerography and mobility of foetus's costal arches are continuously monitored. The woman is invited to take 2-3 deep breaths in and out and to hold her deep breath. Then, a progressive dopplerography amplitude contraction and an underlying moment of foetus's respiratory excursions are stated. Thereafter, the woman is invited to renew breathing. A breath-holding length is measured to the moment of respiratory excursions and used to assess to foetus resistance to hypoxia. If observing the breath-holding length approaching zero, foetus resistance to hypoxia is assessed as bad. If the breath-holding length exceeds 30 seconds, foetus resistance to hypoxia is assessed as excellent.

EFFECT: method provides well-timed breath-holding and breathing management by a pregnant woman, provides higher accuracy of determination of hypoxia length safe for a foetus, and as consequence allows extending a sphere of application, provides higher safety and effectiveness of the method for assessment of foetus resistance to hypoxia.
