FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: iron contains, wt %: carbon 3.03-3.52; silicon 3.68-4.20; manganese 0.21-0.43; copper 0.61-1.12; nickel 1.29-2.16; molybdenum 0.20-0.47; magnesium 0.025-0.058; barium 0.03-0.06; REM 0.02-0.06; iron and impurities - the rest. Iron is melted in an induction furnace. Before tapping from the furnace iron is treated with ferro-silicon. In a ladle iron is treated with complex modifier Fe-Si-Mg-Ca-Ba-REM and cast into dry san-clay moulds. Ingots are subjected to thermal treatment by not-complete austenisation at 850-890°C for 1-2 hours and to isothermal quenching with conditioning for 1.5-2 hours at 320-350°C in baths with fusible metal melt or melt of salt, or in a thermal furnace with common atmosphere.
EFFECT: iron possesses high and stable mechanical properties in ingots of various configuration with different thickness of wall.
