FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and specifically to cleaning the surface of water bodies from oil and oil products. The method involves treating an oil contaminated surface with dry excess sludge from sludge beds of oil-refining and/or petrochemical companies until full absorption of oil products. Further, the surface is treated with a suspension of active sludge from sewage treatment plants of oil-refining and/or petrochemical companies, collected from the distribution box of secondary settling tanks 0-8 hours after taking for regeneration hydrocarbon-oxidising microorganisms in amount of 105-107 CFU/ml per 1.5-2 l/m2.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of cleaning water surface from oil contamination.
