FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention employs a gas and an apparatus having a standard container of given hardness and volume comparable to the volume of the measured article. The article is loaded with pressure of not less than two atmospheres and the volume of the pre-loaded article is measured. The standard container is then loaded with pressure of not less than two atmospheres and the volume of the unloaded article is measured. The value of deformation of the article is determined using the formula where Vart1 is the volume of the article pre-loaded with pressure; Vart2 is the volume of the unloaded article; Vst is the volume of the standard container; P1 Σ is the pressure in the pre-loaded article; P2 1 is the steady pressure in the system when measuring volume of the pre-loaded article, P2 1 is the pressure in the standard container when measuring the volume of the unloaded article; P2 Σ is the steady pressure in the system when measuring volume of the unloaded article.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining volumetric deformation.
