SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to compositions for protecting materials from microorganisms, containing a combination of imazalil and silver compounds selected from silver acetate, silver alginate, silver azide, silver citrate, silver lactate, silver nitrate; silver perchlorate, silver sulphate, silver chloride, silver thiocyanate, silver-sodium-hydrogen-zirconium phosphate, silver sulphadiazine, silver cyclohexanediacetic acid and disilver-2,5-dichloro-3,6-dihydroxy-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1,4-dione; where the weight ratio of component (I) to component (II), which ensures a synergetic biocidal effect, ranges from 4:1 to 1:4. Other suitable components (II) are products which release silver when using technologies which gradually make it biologically available.

EFFECT: compositions can be used to protect any living or dead material such as agricultural crops, plants, fruits, seeds, objects made from wood, straw etc, materials susceptible to biological decomposition, and fabric, from damage by microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungus, yeast, algae etc.
