FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for colouring an object, belt or sheet with powder has a powder application position including a source of powder, the powder application position being adapted to electrostaically apply the powder to the surface of an object, belt or sheet; an imaging position including a source of energy adapted to selectively fuse or sinter the powder on the surface of the object, belt or sheet; a powder removal position for removing unfused or unsintered portions of the powder from the surface of the object, belt or sheet; and a transporter to securely hold and move the object, belt or sheet successively to the powder application position, the imaging position and the powder removal position.
EFFECT: possibility of using powder to create colour and monochromatic images on non-planar heat-sensitive surfaces.
