FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method to determine optimal number of dowels in a composite wooden beam consists in installation of a minimum possible number of dowels on it, fixing the beam on a test bench according to its operation conditions, its loading with evenly distributed load, measurement of maximum sagging, unloading, installation of additional dowels between the ones installed previously and repetition of static tests until maximum sagging stabilises. Using the results of static tests a graphical curve is built "maximum sagging - ratio of number of installed dowels at each stage of tests to maximum number of used dowels", curves are analysed, and start of the maximum sagging stabilisation section is determined more accurately, using which, optimal number of dowels is calculated for the model considered, and a real beam, accordingly. The same result may be achieved, if in the method for determination of optimal number of dowels dynamic tests of beam bending are carried out instead of static tests, by excitation of transverse internal (or forced) oscillations and by measurement of the main (or first resonant) frequency of these oscillations, increasing number of dowels step by step.

EFFECT: development of the method for experimental determination of optimal number of dowels in composite beams with application of their models.
