SUBSTANCE: device comprises a unit (1) of power current setting, the output of which is connected to the positive input of a summator (2), to the negative input of which the output of the power current sensor (3) is connected. The output of the summator (2) is connected to the input of a controller (4), the output of which is connected to the input of a drive (5) for electrode displacement. The output of the drive (5) of electrode displacement is connected to the input of a sensor (6) of electrode displacement speed, the output of which is connected to the input of a link (7), characterising a model of a control object. The output of the link (7) is connected to the negative input of the summator 2.

EFFECT: reduced sensitivity of the control system in the arc steel-smelting furnace to variable parameters of smelting process, and increased stability of operation modes, reduced level of power current pulsations level, reduced losses of power.
