FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: transverse rolling mill stand comprises foundation with shaped wedges, driven rotor mounted there inside, tail spindles with working rolls and support rolls interacting with shaped wedges. Metal sag ahead of roll in rolling is ruled out by providing all tail spindles, or all but one, are equipped with individual drives fitted on shafts with offset for support rolls to displace working rolls. Said individual drive is made up of two-stage worm reduction gear including low- and high-speed stages and inner gearing spur gear with its driving inner rim made aligned with low-speed worm gear while driven gear is arranged aligned with the shaft carrying support rolls fitted with offset thereon. Worm reduction gear low-speed stage incorporates two-pitch spur worm gear.
EFFECT: higher quality and surface finish of rolled stock, higher efficiency of mill stand.
