SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to ophthalmology, and can be used for treating chronic toxic alcohol- and tobacco-related optic neuropathy. For this purpose, the method involves the first stage of staying in hospital for 10 days whereat the patient is prescribed with intravenous introduction of nootropyl and cerebrolysin 5-10 ml, intramuscular injections of glutoxim 2.0 ml and mexidol 1.0-2.0 ml, parabulbar injections of dexamethasone 0.5 ml, and oral administration of heptane 1 tablet 3 times a day. It is added with 10 daily sessions of percutaneous electrical stimulation of optic nerves starting with the first day of treatment. The second stage is outpatient, starts from the 11^th day and takes another 10 days to prescribe intramuscular injections of corthexin 10 mg, proserin 0.5-1.0 ml, milgamma 2.0 ml, parabulbar injections of emoxipin 0.5 ml, and 10 sessions of magnetic stimulation of the optic nerve. The one-month outpatient third stage starts from the 21th day and involves oral administration of pantogam 1 tablet 3 times a day and phenotropyl 1 tablet 1 time a day.

EFFECT: method provides improved visual functions in the case patients.
