FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: components of a sorbent containing calcium, aluminium, silicon and halides are used when burning coal. Sorbents are added to the coal before ignition thereof and/or are added to the flame or gases coming from the flame, preferably at minimum temperatures, which enables complete formation of reflecting structures and enables to obtain various advantages of the described methods.
EFFECT: combined use of the compounds reduces emission of mercury and sulphur, reduces emission of elementary or oxidised mercury, increases efficiency of the coal combustion process due to slag removal, increases content of Hg, As, Pb and/or Cl in coal ash, reduces content of leached heavy metals in the ash, preferably lower than the detection limit, and also enables to obtain ash with good cementing properties.
