FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves treating urea-formaldehyde resin at pH 7.0-8.5 with 20-25% aqueous solution of sodium sulphite or aqueous solution of a mixture of sodium sulphite with bisulphite in ratio 3:1, taken with 10-20% excess to the equimolar amount of the contained formaldehyde.
EFFECT: reduced content of formaldehyde in urea-formaldehyde resin before addition thereof into production of articles based thereon.
