FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for measuring linear velocity of an object is a device for converting linear velocity into code, based on use cylindrical magnetic domain (CMD) techniques and a microelectronic design. Small dimensions of the CMD, component units, micrometre fractions and high speed thereof enable to create high-frequency high-speed object velocity converters. Such converters have a high-frequency generator, a switch, a domain-shifting structure, a magnetic head, compressors with magnetic barriers, magnetic relays, CMD memory, a counter, a reverse unit, an OR element, a repeater, a delay element and a register. The principle of operation of such a converter lies in determining the location of an object, creating a unit time interval and measuring the path traversed by the object in unit time. High speed of the apparatus for measuring linear velocity of the object is determined by delay time of 100-10-3 s, and the accuracy of measuring the path is determined by the size of the CMD as 10-0.1 mcm.
EFFECT: improved technical characteristics of the velocity metre.
