FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: the invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to pyrometallurgic methods for production of metal melts containing transitive metals. In order to increase the concentration of doping component in the melt an additive containing a doping component is added to the melt. The additive contains ≥5-10% of doping component, ≥5- 10% of volatile components harmless to the pyrometallurgic process in the form of H2O and/or CO2, including ≥20% of chemically combined water in form of composition water and/or hydroxyl groups, ≤5% of sulphur and other doping components and/or slag-forming agents, if needed. The additive is produced by ore lixiviating and deposition in the form of hydroxides and/or carbonates. It is used in pyrometallurgic processes, which comprise argon-oxygen decarburization process (AOD), Creusot-Loire-Uddeholm process (CLU), vacuum oxygen decarburization process (VOD), basic oxygen process (BOP) or quick basic oxygen process (Q-BOP), or electric furnace melting process.
EFFECT: simplified control over pyrometallurgic process and provided the possibility to dope metal melts with low cost.
