FIELD: arms manufacturing.

SUBSTANCE: method of triggering a proximity fuse is based on target detection by pulse luminous radiation scanning and reflected radiation registration with further analysis of registered signals. Target identification is performed upon registration of a preset reflected pulse series registration in a preset time interval, at the first preset distance from the ammunition and then at the second distance. The ammunition-target relative velocity is assessed by a definite time interval between the identification time points, the delay in blasting being formed depending on the relative velocity.

EFFECT: proximity fuse is triggered at the optimum distance from the target at any ammunition velocity.
