FIELD: measurement devices.
SUBSTANCE: portable optical distance measurement device comprises: a distance measurement mechanism, angle measurement mechanism to measure at least one of the height and angle of azimuth, pointer indicator for visible laser beam generation as a pointing device, an optical surveillance system for laser pointer adjustment and for adjustment of the beam pointing to the target. The portable optical distance measurement device also comprises a user interface, a user controller that monitors the distance measurement mechanism and connects one of the height, azimuth or angular position values received from the angular position measurement mechanism with the distance measurements received from the distance measurement mechanism. The controller calculates the measurements depending on the measurement mode selected by the user interface, such mode being selected depending on the distance and one of the height or azimuth value or both the values for a multiplicity of target points based on the distances measured by the above distance measurement mechanism and one or both height and azimuth values measured by means of angular measurement mechanism without any additional information. The controller calculates at least one of the chord length values and also the surface and the space volume for a multiplicity of target points.
EFFECT: provision of additional functional capabilities of the distance gauge due to automatic determination not only of the distance to the control points and chord calculation but also such parameters as the surface and the space volume between the said points immediately in the course of various works that render direct measurement impossible by any reason.
