FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: pulsed laser includes lasers I and II, as well as a pumping unit for laser I. Laser I consists of a resonator 1, having a laser element 3; laser II consists of a resonator 2, having a laser element 4. Radiation frequency of laser I is higher than that of laser II, and laser I pumps laser II. Laser I and laser II are connected to each other such that radiation generated by laser II passes through laser element 3; laser element 3 amplifies radiation of laser II passing through; and radiation of laser II modulates amplification in laser element 3 at the radiation frequency of laser I.

EFFECT: possibility of obtaining a pulsed generation mode, and shorter duration of the pulse generated by the apparatus.
