FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, involving: (a) dehydrofluorination of 1,1,1,2,3-pentafluoropropane in the presence of a dehydrofluorination catalyst to obtain a mixture of products containing 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene; and (b) extraction of said 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene from the mixture of products obtained at (a), where said dehydrofluorination reaction takes place at temperature ranging from approximately 300°C to approximately 500°C. The present invention also describes a composition purifying 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, containing: (a) Z-isomer of CF3CH=CHF and (b) HF; in which HF is present in an amount which is effective for formation of an azeotropic combination with Z-CFaCH=CHF.
