METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ESTIMATING SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO WHEN DECODING CONVOLUTION CODES Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G06F11/10

Abstract RU 2446448 C1

FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for estimating signal-to-noise ratio when decoding convolutional codes, comprising series-connected transition metrics calculation unit, metrics and path memory calculation, information symbol generating unit, as well as, connected to the metrics and path memory calculation, minimal path metric memory, path metric memory and path memory, signal-to-noise ratio estimation unit, wherein the first input of the signal-to-noise estimation unit is connected to the second output of the path memory, the second input of the signal-to-noise ratio estimation unit is connected to the fifth output of the metrics and path memory calculation unit, and the first output of the signal-to-noise ratio estimation unit, to which a binary control signal is transmitted, is connected to the first control input of the transition metrics calculation unit and the control input of the metrics and path memory calculation unit, the second output of the signal-to-noise ratio estimation unit is connected to the second control input of the transition metrics calculation unit and is the second output of the decoder, to which is transmitted a signal corresponding to the estimate of the current signal-to-noise ratio. A version of the signal-to-noise ratio estimation unit is given.

EFFECT: optimisation of the reception procedure when decoding convolution codes.
