SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Lockable ball joint contains first lever with swivel head and socket. Swivel head is attached to socket. Lockable device is made for locking swivel head with respect to socket. Locking device contains piston, source of compressed gas and drive. Drive is made for reverse detachment of piston from the source of compressed gas with gas cartridge. Frame of surgical retractor contains assembly of lockable connection. Assembly of lockable connection includes second lever with second swivel head, which is fixed to second socket and second locking device. Method of fixing lockable connection contains stage of setting into action of drive by removal of pressure from piston in such a way that first lever is able to turn with respect to socket and stage of drive opening, in which piston is pressed and set into contact by gaseous medium with gas cartridge in such a way that locking device locks swivel head with respect to socket.

EFFECT: lockable connection becomes more reliable.
