FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: two identical half-elements of a differential ferroprobe magnetometer are aligned coaxially at a given distance from each other. A fluid gravitational switch is mounted in the housing of the magnetometer in an upright position, wherein the level of the information signal of the magnetometer is set minimum using a current controller in a compensation winding, which eliminates total background effect of the vertical component of the Earth's field and ferrous elements of the electronic transducer. An underground magnetic anomaly is indicated by the highest deviation of the readings of the device display from that set by the current controller in the compensation winding.
EFFECT: invention increases accuracy, reliability and measurement speed, simplifies the measuring process overall by optimising the design of the ferroprobe transducer and using an electronic vertical indicator.
