FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for using mobility support Internet protocols with mobility support non-internet protocols, for example in a 3GPP or a SEA/LTB system. A first gateway node, having a home agent, as well as a an ancestral gateway node, which can be a GPRS gateway support node (GGSN), is connected to a second gateway node, having a local mobility agent, as well as an ancestral service node which can be a service GPRS gateway node (SGSN), using a first protocol. The first protocol is a mobility support non-Internet protocol, e.g., a GPRS tunnelling protocol GTP. The home address (HoA) for the mobile node is controlled by the second gateway node. Updates associated with location of the mobile node in the domain are received through the second protocol. The second protocol is an mobility support Internet protocol, e.g., a mobile IP (MIP). Mobility of the mobile node within the domain is controlled by the second gateway node using the second protocol. In order to control local mobility, the local mobility agent uses a local mobility protocol, e.g., a hierarchical mobile IP (HMIP), a fast mobile IP (FMIP), a proxy mobile IP (PMIP) or network-based localised mobility management (NETLMM).
