FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: in a system, based on a mobile IP, a mobile node performs handover from a first access node, which is associated with a first routing node, to a second access node which is associated with a second routing node. The mobile node establishes protocol tunnel with the first access node through the second access node. On a direct link, packets delivered from the first routing node are routed through the protocol tunnel to the second access node and then to the mobile node. On a return link, packets sent to the first routing node are routed through the protocol tunnel from the mobile node to the second access node and then to the first routing node. The mobile node simultaneously supports separate IP interfaces for routing nodes.

EFFECT: preventing loss of packets which might be in the route for delivery to or from the first routing node during handover.
