SUBSTANCE: automatic detection of neighbourhood by a base station is proposed with the help of assistance of an access terminal, at the same time the method includes reception of the first message from an access terminal on the basis of detection of an identification signal by the access terminal from the first base station in the communication system, it is identified, whether the first base station is the known base station. If the first base station is not known, the second message is sent into the access terminal to request network identification of the first base station. The third message from the access terminal is received in response to the second message, including the requested network identification. The request of identification data is sent by the second base station into the first base station via a network communication line on the basis of the network identification.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of neighbours detection by a base station with the help of an access terminal.
