SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preventing the growth of microorganisms in process water. Combination to prevent the growth of microorganisms contains compounds that are added separately. The compounds are peracid added first, which is a peracetic acid or performic acid, or a mixture thereof, and halogenated dialkylhydantoin added after the peracid. The weight ratio of peroxyacid and halogenated dialkylhydantoin is at least 2:1, where the amount of peracid is calculated for the active agent, and the amount of halogenated dialkylhydantoin is calculated by active chlorine. The interval between addings of peroxyacid and halogenated dialkylhydantoin is from 0.5 seconds to 60 minutes. The method of prevention the growth of microorganisms includes adding the said combination into the water.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce corrosion and consumption of reagents.
