METHOD FOR DETERMINING ELASTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF MINE ROCK AS PER MEASUREMENT DATA IN WELL Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC E21B49/00

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: within the range of the specified formation interval in statistically significant number of cross sections of the well there determined as per caliper survey data are radial offsets of side and upper walls of inclined well as differences of measured and nominal radii of the well in two mutually perpendicular directions. Mean arithmetic values, mean square deviations and confidence offset intervals of well walls are calculated as per measurement results. Then, well impact area is determined, current radii are divided in the direction from side and upper walls into n elements and two systems of equations are prepared for side wall and for upper wall, which relate the corresponding well wall offsets to elastic characteristics of mine rock, geostatic pressure and hydrostatic pressure of drilling fluid and well angle of curvature. Both systems are solved together using method of successive approximations relative to deformation module and actual coefficient of horizontal stress of mine rock with specified accuracy.

EFFECT: determination of elastic characteristics of mine rock as per the well measurement data on radial offset of walls of inclined or horizontal well after the specified formation interval is developed.
