FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, namely, to thread rolling. Knurling rolls with crossed axles are revolved. Billet lengthwise feed equals pitch of knurled thread. Hear used are rolls with hub with bore and key groove. Said knurl rolls have outer peripheral surface with ring thread that has taper lead and cylindrical gaging part. Note here that knurl roll taper lead turns have bosses. Taper lead threads are provided with bosses arranged spaced apart by, at least, 4P along the thread, where P is pitch of cut thread, mm. Their length makes at least 2P while maximum recess depth makes at least (0.3…0.4)P.

EFFECT: higher efficiency, no roll slippage.
