FEMALE TOOL FOR STATIC-PULSE KNURLING OF THREAD Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B21H3/02 

FIELD: plastic metal working, namely forming outer threads by plastic deforming with use of female tool.

SUBSTANCE: tool includes wave-guide and striker acting upon said wave-guide and connected with mechanical pulse generator. Wave-guide is in the form of thread knurling ring embracing blank and having inner working annular threaded surface. Working surface has starting cone and cylindrical sizing portion. Thread knurling ring is movably mounted in body with use of radial thrust bearing assemblies mounted in end faces. Body with ring is mounted by inclination angle equal to lead angle of thread to be knurled relative to plane normal to lengthwise axis of blank. Static and dynamic components of deforming force are imparted to said ring.

EFFECT: increased depth of strengthening at forming outer thread, improved quality of thread, enhanced efficiency of knurling thread without waviness.
