DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR SUBCLINICAL MASTITIS IN SOWS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01N33/48

SUBSTANCE: diagnostic technique for subclinical mastitis in sows involves milk sampling during piglet feeding by a sow within the first days after farrowing. Then milk is mixed with an aqueous solution of the detergent Progress containing surfactants in the ratio 1:1, in a dose of 1 drop. Herewith the mixture of the detergent Progress and water is taken in the ratio at least 1:2. Mixing is performed on a flat glass surface for 15-30 seconds. Subclinical mastitis is diagnosed by the form of mixture consistence, namely by formation of jelly-like clots or cords, flakes or in the form of small grains.

EFFECT: early high-accuracy diagnosing of subclinical mastitis in sows in the production environment, higher safety of suction piglets ensured by early diagnosing of subclinical mastitis and its well-timed therapy, reduced labour inputs, improved economic efficiency and pig farming profitability.
